This new rifle was ready to shoot by its owner who dubbed it "Tenderfoot" in honor of Tenderfoot Hill and the old gold mining community, now washed away, which gave this spot, 20 miles North of Delta, where Jud has his home and shop, its name.
This series of photos show the proud owner, scenes from the 4th of July celebration at Jud's farm, and a few details from the rifle, at this point a highly accurate rifle in perfect shooting condition but engraving and stock finish not quite complete.
Following in the tradition for primitive shoots, Gary B. the proud owner, took aim the first target, a double bladed axe sunk into a log with a clay pigeon on each side, and with his first shot, struck the blade, split the ball and broke both pigeons! This was a tremendous feat, precisely splitting a tiny .32 cal ball and hitting both pigeons with one shot, and it amazed the assembled crowd!
Tenderfoot, like most of Jud's recent rifles features a curly maple stock finished with tobacco stain.
