Jud has been working hard to obtain the perfect color for the Edward Marshall Rifle. After repeated applications of stain, background color and special oil finishes, the color is close to the ideal, balanced out to the correct and accurate subtle red/brown hue of the original. Still a work in progress but nearly complete.
This sequence shows the successive applications of finish over the past 10 weeks that make up the final layered depth of color that he is seeking. Once the color is correct then the brightness will be diminished to conform to the original. Jud will not be content until the color and texture are perfect!
