A Special Bowie Knife from another Time

This Bowie was forged by Jud in 2004 at my request for the surgeon whose special care and skill were so greatly appreciated by me and my late wife.
It is a companion piece in this blog to the porringer in the previous post.

A Special Porringer from another Time

Nearly 15 years ago I asked Jud to make two gifts for the doctors who had rendered care above and beyond the call of duty to try to save my late wife's life from cancer. The project illustrated here was given to the oncologist and took the form of a porringer, personalized with details of family. Jud hammered this out of solid silver leaving hammer marks on the inside and burnishing the outside to a high polish. The passing of years has given it a beautiful patina. The recipient has since passed away, but the legendary beauty of this piece and the fond memories of those days linger on.

An Elaborate Patch Knife and Ball Pouch

Every visit to Tenderfoot Hill brings new surprises. Last Friday was no exception. Jud had mentioned that he was forging the patch knife to go with the powder horn, possibles bag set, but when I arrived, I was amazed to see this little jewel of a patch knife, finished and engraved with gold and silver inlays. Elaborate, unique ... words fail to describe the incredible harmony of design, at one with the rest of the set, that has been lavished on this small jewel of a knife! Multiple photos have been included at different light settings to show the different metals - gold, silver and steel to best effect.
Pictures follow with the rest of the kit, including the now finished turnscrew, ball pouch and the other accouterments previously illustrated.
