This was my last chance to see the completed big bore Dickert Rifle before it is shipped of to its new owner - one of the Owensboro Boys, all of them collectors and appreciators of the finest Longrifles.
I drove to Tenderfoot last Thursday, a beautiful spring day. CAVU! (Calm air visibility unlimited!) One of the first days of beauty and clarity in the past 9 months of the worst Alaskan winter weather that I can remember in 46 years. 91 inches of snow, a record breaking streak of time below 40 degrees and the record for the coldest April on record - more than 110 years!
Along the way, beautiful vistas of the Alaska Range, and after photographing the rifle, a chance to see Emma's horse DocBlume, Booger, the tomcat sunning himself in the doorway with one of his kittens, and Emma's flock of recently hatched chicks.
