Ever since we obtained copies of Robert Lienemann"s recently published masterwork: "Moravian Gunmaking II" at the CLA last summer, Jud and I have been scheming to bring the beautiful and spare signed Oerter Rifle pictured beginning on page 105 to life in an homage/interpretation by Jud. I have been following the progress of this rifle closely since Jud began the project in early November. Here for the first time on this blog are pictures of the development of this finely shaped early rifle - the original dated 1774.
Brass wire inlay dominates the decorative pattern, and Jud created this wire himself.
Here is a piece of the brass wire with the tools used to press it into place.
