Homage to Clan MacKay: a cane by Jesse
Once again it's time to surprise loved ones on their birthday and here is a cane with a Scots theme for someone with close family ties to Clan MacKay.
The crown features a custom cut Kunzite stone from Mike DeMerritt in Tucson, Arizona, backed with gold leaf to give it extra reflectivity and depth.
More pictures will be uploaded as this exciting project proceeds to completion.

THE HAWKEN PISTOL finished, finally!
Jud's beautifully distressed workbench is a fitting backdrop for this enormously complex and laborious project - a .69 cal Hawken Pistol.
The large calibre of this pistol precluded the use of "off the shelf" components. Thus every single part of this pistol had to be fabricated by hand!
The author personally fired this pistol on 3/13/2015 and can attest to its accuracy and excellent functionality.

Antes Rifle
About a year ago Jud started working on a special early rifle for the author. The work has proceeded slowly as it has been sandwiched in between many other projects that have been documented on this site. First the cock and frizzen were cut out and filed to final size and shape, then the barrel inlet into the stock and gradually the stock has been shaped. In the past two weeks the project has started to take shape: the lock is finished, the stock has been shaped and carving of the stock is laid out and the carving has commenced.
The author will continue to show this fine rifle project as it nears completion. I am very excited about this rifle - it is influenced by one of the finest early Pennsylvania Rifles is existence. It exhibits graceful lines and wonderful balance. It is destined to be an accurate shooter and the author's personal favorite!
