A pair of Kentucky Pistols.

Jud is bringing to completion a pair of pistols with belt hooks, one right and one left handed - a matching pair.

One of the steps in fabricating these pistols involved smelting a mixture of silver with a small amount of copper. The resulting amalgam is much tougher and resistant to wear than pure silver and was used for the butt caps and grip straps of the pistols.

The next step shown is the inletting of the belt hooks and then engraving them.

As of yesterday, Jud was completing the checkering of the grips.

A "Hint" of things to come!

Jud has had a busy past six months! The main accomplishment has been the completion of a major work - a splendid rifle created for a wealthy patron who has favored a number of other rifle makers of note with a challenge to create their best work. These pieces may be exhibited at a future CLA show. Jud completed this rifle on July 20th. We took turns shooting it to make sure it shot true. It did!

The author of this blog has compiled an impressive collection of photographs of this rifle as it has evolved over the course of nearly 6 years.

A few of these follow, purposely a bit obscure, since the owner has not yet received the rifle. Perhaps more will be published at a later date.
